Here's the preliminary cover art of my new book, Robert Radio Flyer, The King of Pacoima. If I can figure out how to post a pdf chapter in Blogspot I'll do so this week.
The cover is great. I am biased because I know the author and I know the movie (if this has anything to do with the story told in the movie!) The contrast between the wild west animals and the two young boys seemingly huddled together seeking comfort or protection is eerily enticing. The fact that we cant really see the boys gives them an anonymity…..they could be us. They could be me. This is obviously a real photograph and the author is likely going to reveal something deeply personal inside. It probably won’t be easy to read but personal, committed works can liberate people from their own lives. They can also help us understand those around us. -Blake B.
I am looking forward to reading this book. I lived in Pacoima from 1967 to 1988. It was an adventure growing up there and I'm sure Mr Evans will share unique experiences from Pacoima and universal American experiences of the era.
